DEEJAY MATHMATICS

Deejay Mathmatics, a man 25 years deep in the Hip Hop Game of Life. Maths started out his hip-hop voyage when he was young – poppin’, lockin’ and breakin’ back when there was only a handful of people in Australia doing so. In his teens he moved into street bombing, whilst still b-boying and also developing a strong desire to cut up records.

He earned his reputation in Australia during the early to mid 90’s, as a b-boy inside the Robotek Crew (est. 1994), also at the same time manning the turntables at various clubs and parties around the country. During this time was fortunate enough to share the stage with some of Oz best artists such as – Def Wish Cast, KIllawatts, Maya Jupiter, Reason,The Angels, Hilltop Hoods, DJ Samrai, Grinspoon and Resin Dogs. Later he began to perform internationally – in countries such as Scotland, Italy, Venice, England, New York & New Zealand. Mathmatics also started to partake in DJ’ing and b-boying for corporations such as Channel Ten, FHM magazine, Triple J, Levi Jeans, 3D World, Sony Playstation, Big Day Out and MTV.

His skills have occasionally been put to test on the battle circuit, finishing runner-up in the team category at the Australian ITF competition in 2005 and also winning numerous DJ battles in his home-town of Newcastle.

He has performed alongside a list of artists that reads like a who’s who of hip hop founders and international stars, names such as DJ Q-Bert, EPMD, Masta Ace, DJ Cash Money, Rock Steady Crew, Naughty By Nature, DJ Dopey, Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Dj Herc, X-ecutioners, M.O.P, Jurassic 5, Akrobatik, MC Jehst, Jungle Brothers, P-Money and also being the only Australian DJ to spin for the legendary Ice-T.

In recent years he has independently released a series of street mixtapes that have shifted units into the thousands and reached all corners of the globe and been performing around the country with fellow LookUP comrade Scott Burns.
